The Leap offers two different types of email options: Flows, and Broadcasts. See below to learn more about the features and benefits of these two different options.
Flows vs Broadcasts
What are Flows?
Flows are pre-set, customized messages that get sent to your audience automatically when they “trigger” it. Trigger examples include: claiming a lead magnet or purchasing a product from you. Each flow can contain a sequence of up to 5 emails, and you can specify the send-time for each email by specifying how long after the “trigger” it should get sent. You can use one of The Leap's pre-made templates or create your own Email Flow from scratch!
What are Broadcasts?
Broadcasts allow for you to send tailored one-off messages and announcements to your contacts, all at once. You can send broadcasts to your entire list of contacts , or to just those that have claimed a specific lead magnet, or purchased a specific product.
When should I use Flows vs Broadcasts?
Why Should I Use Flows?
Flows are a great way of engaging with your audience at scale, and with minimum effort. You can set-up flows to cover a whole range of use cases just once (e.g. a thank you message, a welcome note, or a testimonial request) and they will get sent automatically on your behalf each time the “trigger” happens. You can also use Email Flows to create multi-email sequences, which can act as your sales or nurture funnel. Flows are great because you can "set and forget" them, they will just run automatically in the background each time a contact fulfils your trigger.
Why Should I Use Broadcasts?
Ideally, you will be using a mix of both Email Broadcasts and Flows to ensure your audience gets sent the right message at the right time. Broadcasts are a great way of getting the message out to your contacts whenever you have something important to share.
Broadcasts typically fall into two categories:
1. Nurture: typically monthly or weekly emails, designed to inspire and help your contacts.
Here are some examples:
-
- Newsletter: tells readers about news and events happening in the creator’s space
- Resources: helpful tools/tips/articles/resources…. anything that can help the reader grow
- Letter from the author: a more personal behind-the-scenes/day-in-the-life style look at what the creators is up to or thinking about
- Educational: tips, tricks, or bonus training info to educate the reader
2. Promote: typically designed to help you sell to your contacts.
Here are some examples:
-
- Waitlist: invite VIP customers to register for early access to an upcoming product, and potentially co-create with them based on feedback
- Product launch: announce the launch of a new product to their whole list, or a subsection, once it’s ready
- Upcoming event: announce upcoming workshops, webinars or in person events
- Discount: offer a % discount on any of your products or services as a one off
How Do Flows and Broadcasts Work?
Flows
Flows are automated emails that you can configure ahead of time, and are triggered by specific actions from your contacts, such as purchasing a specific digital product, or claiming a lead magnet. To send them, simply select the flow trigger/s, decide how long after the trigger/s the email should be sent, draft the email/s, and set the flow to 'Active".
Broadcasts
Broadcasts are emails that you send manually, on an ad-hoc basis. They can be sent to your entire contact list, or targeted at contacts that have ordered specific products or lead magnets only. To send them, simply select the broadcast recipients, draft the email, and send the broadcast.
